From Asia-Pacific to Indo-Pacific: An Evaluation of the EU's Engagement with Asia

The Indo-Pacific is at the center of great-power competition and harbours crucial trade and financial assets, making it a region of immense geopolitical and geoeconomical importance.

In this fourth ENGAGE high-level lecture, Lay Hwee Yeo explores the evolution of the EU’s engagement with Asia, the Union’s relations with ASEAN in the context of the rise of China, and the many challenges ahead.

Lay Hwee Yeo is Vice-Chair of ASEANCham-EU, Senior Research Fellow at the Singapore Institute of International Affairs and Adjunct Senior Fellow at the S Rajaratnam School of International Studies. She is also Senior Associate at the Centre for Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (Nanyang Technological University), Adjunct Faculty at the Singapore Management University and Adjunct Teaching Fellow at the National University of Singapore.

Angel Saz-Carranza is Director of ESADEgeo Center for Global Economy and Geopolitics in addition to being Associate Professor of the Department of Strategy and General Management and Visiting Professor at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business.
